Guardiola’s Ball Blunder Bonanza…
Pep Guardiola might need some extra padding for an upcoming chat with Manchester City’s sponsors. The Premier League is giving Nike the boot after 25 long years, deciding instead to juggle with Puma balls from the start of the 2025/26 season. With Puma already wrapping its claws around City and Pep since his brand-ambassador gig kicked off in 2019, you’d think the switch would be smoother than a Messi dribble.
But hold your horses! These Puma balls have already had their bubble burst. Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta blamed them for his team’s hiccup against Newcastle, pointing out their trickier spins compared to the Nike and Adidas models. And Pep? Well, he had a field day bashing the Mitre balls in the FA Cup. Apparently, 20 shots missed target, and Pep wasn’t too happy about having the balls aired like dirty laundry.
With Puma now in the Premier League’s spotlight, they better ensure their balls don’t punt the league into chaos. On the bright side, if these balls turn out to be duds, at least Pep can dial up Puma and give them an earful — after all, their number is on speed dial!
