Pep Guardiola is like a proud parent who never publicly scolds his mischievous children, which is one reason his players adore him. Last week, he was all sunshine and rainbows about his stars Rico Lewis and Phil Foden despite their stumbles. Jack Grealish, he claimed, wasn’t benched for any reason other than having a posse of dazzling cohorts like Savinho and Jeremy Doku.
Come Friday, Pep practically quoted a motivational poster about his faith in his team.
