Guardiola’s Apologies, Minutes and Decisive Chat…
Pep Guardiola found himself practicing his sorries to James McAtee recently for not letting him out to play with the big lads in Manchester City’s first team. After two years of strutting his stuff at Sheffield United, McAtee’s summer shenanigans in the USA didn’t quite translate to an ‘A-lister’ spot in the Premier League, with him only being allowed to grace the grass in bursts averaging just 12 minutes!
With the recovery of ‘the usual suspects’, McAtee’s cameo dreams might be dashed. However, whispers of a wild ride to the FIFA Club World Cup in the USA could be on the cards. And guess what? He’s also ticketed for the under-21 European Championships in Slovakia. Quite the double booking for our aspiring football star!
So, what does McAtee want? Only James knows (and even he isn’t sure yet). But both Pep and England U21 boss Lee Carsley are playing nice, leaving the ball in McAtee’s court. Whether he fancies a summer on the sunny side of Slovakia or prefers the red carpet of the USA, one thing’s certain—he’ll be having a chat with the boss and weighing his boarding passes soon enough!
