Phillips’ City Hiatus Continues…

Kalvin Phillips is set to spend the next four months wandering Manchester like a footballer looking for his lost pet cat. After struggling with an Achilles injury, he couldn’t wiggle his way out of Manchester City during the summer window. Although clubs like his old flame, Leeds United, showed interest, a lack of fitness played the invisible defense that kept him stuck.

Despite plenty of room in City’s roster for Phillips, it’s as likely he’ll play for them soon as a penguin will win the FIFA Ballon d’Or. With no shirt number and no recent appearances, the post-Christmas window may shine a new light on his future. While his Manchester ventures continue, the doors of Turkey and Saudi Arabia remain firmly closed, like a fridge before supper time.
