In the wacky world of pre-season footy, it’s usually the time for the young’uns to come crashing through like a herd of overexcited squirrels with brand new acorns! Normally, these tykes pack their boots and dreams for the grand tour of opportunity. Last summer, a football caravan of 16 sprightly lads pranced all the way to the land of cheeseburgers and bald eagles—the USA. Young Nico O’Reilly and his pal Oscar Bobb were the toast of the summer dance!
Alas, this summer’s script has thrown a metaphorical haggis into the football pie. The Club World Cup swooped in like a magpie to snatch all the senior players away, leaving the eager kids back home gnawing on stale Manchester pies instead of starring in the pre-season pageant. No surprise, the young guns have been honing their twisting skills on Brentford B and Lommel instead of flying into sunsets with senior legends.
Pep’s got a squad so packed you’d think he’s hosting the city’s biggest football fiesta! With nearly a whole platoon of seniors sharpening their studs in Palermo this August, there’s hardly space for the eager bee youths to buzz in. But hang tight, pals! Once Pep’s done doing the hokey pokey with his roster, these City kids just might get their moment to shine in the first team’s limelight as the season rolls on!
